WHY NOTCH 8?
Notch 8 is maximum effort on a diesel locomotive, and I believe it speaks to my work ethic as a photographer. Shooting my best shots has always been my goal every time I pick up my camera and venture out trackside, seaside and everywhere else.

WHAT WE DO:
Mostly railroad photography, the hobby that introduced me to the art. Although my love for unique trains and railroads remains the central focus, my interests expanded to include automotive and landscape photography. Editing is done in house with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I also enjoy writing about my work, and present appealing titles and detailed captions with my photos.
So far, our work has been published by two railroad magazine companies: "Railfan & Railroad Magazine" and "Steel Highway: Magazine for The Modern Railfan." We have also had some work used by Messiah University's Office of Marketing & Communications in their social media posts and "Swinging Bridge" magazines.
2025 GOALS:
We thoroughly enjoy traveling, taking pictures and writing about the things we capture. This year, we hope to open up a professional blog site where our writing and photography can flourish outside social media. While Instagram remains a public space for us to share photos, we want to expand onto a platform where we can write longer stories and provide more engaging content.
We are also selling prints for the first time this year! More details will come as we establish this business.
PARTING SHOT:
Railfan & Railroad Magazine ends each of their monthly magazines with a "parting shot." Here is a parting shot that we wish to share as an conclusion to our introduction. Thank you for your interest in Notch 8 Photography!
"The Southern Crosses The Susquehanna" — Norfolk Southern's executive passenger train to the Masters Golf Tournament crosses the Rockville Bridge into Harrisburg, PA. Led by the company's Southern Railway and Virginian Railway tribute locomotives, train 955 began its southbound trip by way of the former Pennsylvania Railroad Pittsburgh Line. (3/31/2025)
